My husband made this for me after a terrible day at work 😭

I had a really bad day at work yesterday. One of those days where one small problem turns into five more problems, I messed something up, got stuck trying to fix it, and by the afternoon I was sitting at my desk feeling like I was just bad at everything lol. My husband knew I was upset, but instead of giving me a long motivational speech, he disappeared for a while and came back with this tiny card. He made the heart pop out, drew the cat, and wrote “Don’t give up!” on it. Then he just put it next to my keyboard and said something like, “You can be dramatic for ten more minutes and then we fix it.” That is basically him. He’s Spanish, and I joke that maybe that explains why he has so much energy and has to express EVERYTHING, but really I think it’s just his personality. When I’m stressed, he never tells me to “just relax.” He usually makes me explain exactly what happened, then starts breaking it down into smaller things with me. Yesterday he literally sat on the floor next to my chair with a coffee and helped me make a list of what I could actually fix that day and what could wait until tomorrow. By the time we finished, the problem hadn’t magically disappeared, but I wasn’t panicking anymore. He’s always been weirdly good at finding little solutions to things that bother me. Before we got married, we did long distance for almost a year, and the time difference was awful. There were days when one of us was waking up while the other was already exhausted and going to bed. At some point he bought us these little long-distance touch bracelets. If you tapped yours, the other person’s would vibrate. It sounds ridiculously cheesy now, but I still remember sitting at work, feeling the bracelet buzz once, and immediately knowing it was him saying hi from Spain. He used to send me two taps for “miss you” and three when he wanted me to check my phone. 😂 After we got married, distance stopped being the problem, but language definitely wasn’t. His parents only speak Spanish and my Spanish is still pretty terrible, so family dinners used to involve me understanding maybe 20% of what was happening and him constantly translating things back and forth. Before our last visit, he went into another one of his research rabbit holes and ended up getting W4 translation earbuds. I thought he was overthinking it again, but they actually made dinner so much easier. His mom started telling me stories about where she grew up, local festivals and what my husband was like as a kid, and for once I didn’t have to wait for him to give me the shortened English version later. That’s kind of his thing. If there’s some small problem making life harder, he becomes weirdly determined to solve it. Sometimes the solution is useful, sometimes it’s incredibly cheesy, and sometimes apparently it involves scissors, red markers and a handmade cat holding a paper heart. submitted by /u/JJNNFFRR to r/Marriage [link] [comments]
