My fiancé (32M) and I (30F) are together for a year, planning to live together, but we keep having this weird issue.

His cats sleep in the bedroom, they wake me up several times during the night by jumping on the bed, moving around, making noise etc. I’m a very light sleeper, so I end up exhausted.
I prefer keeping them out of the bedroom at night. I love his cats and this has nothing to do with disliking them. I just can’t sleep properly with them in the room.
He feels strongly that they should be allowed in and that keeping them out would be unfair to them, and it would make him sad to know they cannot go where they want. We’ve talked about other solutions, but nothing has really worked so far. He has very strong bond to them.
I’m worried about moving in together before this is solved. How to make some practical compromise or solve this situatuon?
TLDR: My fiancé [32M] and I [30F] can’t agree about his cats sleeping in our bedroom. His cats keep waking me up, he wants them in the bedroom, and we haven’t found a compromise before moving in together.
UPDATE: I talked to him about this again. He still feels very strongly that keeping the cats out of the bedroom would be animal abuse. He says he understands that me not being able to sleep isn’t ideal and its making him sad, but at the same time he feels like I’m asking him to do something abusive to his cats.
I tried discussing the separate bedrooms idea, but it also don’t really seem to solve it entirely, because he says the cats wouldn’t respect my closed door and would try to get in anyway and make noise.
He is getting sad and scared, because he is afraid he is going to lose me. I feel bad seeing him like this, but after reading all these comments I’m even more sure I have to take the situation very seriously. I don’t think I can move in, and I shouldn’t, with his current values and opinions, at least about this issue.
The one positive thing is that he agreed to talk about this with his therapist after I suggested it. I’m hoping maybe talking it through with someone outside the relationship will help him find some solution that would work for both of us. It’s kind of a last hope.
Thank you to everyone who commented on this post ❤️ A lot of the responses gave me valuable perspective on the situation, especially from people who have gone through very similar experiences. I really appreciate everyone who took the time to comment! :)
