I’m (25F) conventionally attractive. The guy I’m seeing (34M) is not, and he makes it weird.

I want to preface this by saying I am in no way calling this man ugly. I’m actually very attracted to him as his strong features, which I tell him often. When we go out, he constantly makes comments about loving how people probably wonder “how he pulled a girl like me.” He often makes jokes about people probably thinking I’m an escort or that he paid me for my company. These jokes/comments make me uncomfortable in ways I struggle to articulate. I don’t understand why he would be so fixated on the world’s perception of us, when I’m right beside him telling him how much I’m into him. He says he isn’t insecure, but I don’t see any other reason for saying things like that, even as a joke. How do I bring it up without seeming like I’m looking down on him? Edit: We spoke last night about this and other concerns. Long story short we decided we’re not the best match for each other. I’ve been bringing up things to the point where I question whether he sees my value as a person, and he’s exhausted trying to prove/validate his care for me when I’m constantly putting it under a microscope. We’ve only been seeing each other for a couple months but it went from being fun to stressful/triggering. I question his care for me, and he wishes I trusted him. Our dynamic has revealed insecurity in the both of us, and I’m choosing to grow and examine why I overlooked so many things that should’ve been nonnegotiable. It sucks but it’s necessary.
